בניית פתרון בשלבים:
- השטח את העץ באמצעות DFS; אחסן את זמן הביקור ושעת הסיום עבור כל צומת בשני מערכים vis_time[i] מאחסן את זמן הביקור של צומת ה-ith while זמן_סיום[i] מאחסן את שעת הסיום.
- באותה קריאת DFS אחסן את ערך הצבע של כל צומת במערך עץ שטוח[] במדדים: vis_time[i] ו זמן_סיום[i] עבור הצומת ה-ith.
הערה: גודל המערך עץ שטוח[] יהיה 2n.
כעת הבעיה מצטמצמת למציאת מספר האלמנטים הנבדלים בטווח [vis_time[u] end_time[u] ] במערך עץ שטוח[] עבור כל שאילתה מהסוג שצוין. לשם כך נעבד את השאילתות באופן לא מקוון (עיבוד השאילתות בסדר שונה מזה המופיע בשאלה ואחסון התוצאות ולבסוף הדפסת התוצאה עבור כל אחת מהן בסדר המצוין בשאלה).
שלבים:
- ראשית אנו מעבדים מראש את המערך עץ שטוח[] ; אנו שומרים על א לוּחַ[] (מערך של וקטורים) שולחן[i] מאחסן את הווקטור המכיל את כל המדדים ב עץ שטוח[] שיש להם ערך i. כלומר אם עץ שטוח[j] = i אָז שולחן[i] יהיה אחד מהאלמנטים שלו י .
- ב-BIT אנו מעדכנים את '1' ב-ith index אם אנחנו רוצים את האלמנט ith של עץ שטוח[] להיספר פנימה שְׁאֵלָה() שִׁיטָה. כעת אנו שומרים על מערך נוסף לחצות[] ; לחצות[i] מכיל את המצביע לרכיב הבא בטבלה[i] שעדיין לא סומן ב-BIT.
