מערך הוא קבוצה של אלמנטים מסוג דומה שיש להם מיקום זיכרון רציף. מערך הוא אוסף של משתנים מסוגים דומה שצוינו בשם נפוץ.

כל המערכים הם הבלוק הרציף של מיקומי זיכרון. כברירת מחדל, המיקום הנמוך ביותר של המערך מאחסן את האלמנט הראשון, והמיקום הגבוה ביותר מאחסן את הנתונים האחרונים. ב-C, המערך מוצהר על ידי ציון סוג האלמנט והאורך הכולל של המערך הנדרש לאחסון הנתונים.
